About Our Nursery

Our Pencoed Day Nursery is located inside the Pencoed Welfare Hall on Heol-Y-Groes, Pencoed. We are a small packaway setting operating from our local community hall and have been providing care since winter of 2022.


We provide care for children from the ages of 2 years, to 12 years of age. Our childcare options include full time and part time day care, creche sessions, playgroup hours and flexibility for both adhoc and shift work bookings (dependent on availability). We also provide breakfast club, after school club and holiday club sessions during the holidays.

We are registered with Flying Start for two year olds in eligible areas. Along with being able to receive tax free childcare and funding through the Childcare Offer for Wales.


We are open 50 weeks a year, we are closed for weekends, bank holidays and two weeks at Christmas. Our opening hours 7:30am-6:00pm.

Millie-Rae Verity

Shwmae! I am Millie-Rae, the Nursery Manager at Selca Day Nursery - Pencoed.


I hold a CCPLD Level 3 in Childcare, I am qualified to Level 3 in Play Work and I am currently undergoing my Level 4 to expand on my knowledge. I have been with Selca for three years, with previous experience with working in different roles which included being the ALNCO for the Llanharan setting.


I have a lot of love, time and passion for my job. Working with children is something that I have ALWAYS wanted to do and have done so for many years now. I have particular experience in working with children with additional learning needs.


I am friendly and bubbly, and always willing to help in any way, shape or form that I can. You'll quite often see me dancing in the garden, playing hairdressers or getting creative with the children. No day here is ever the same! I would love to invite you to come and visit my setting where you can meet my incredible team and view the facilities on offer.

Selca Day Nursery - Pencoed: Enrolment

Come and Say Hi!

Following an enquiry, you will be invited into the nursery for a chance for you to meet the team, where we will answer any questions you may have and then a chance to look around our setting. You are welcome to bring your little one along.


There is a £30 non-refundable registration fee required to secure your spot on our registers. 


Once confirmed, we offer two settling in sessions on the lead up to your little one starting with us. These settling in sessions are free of charge, where your little one can stay and play as part of the transition to starting nursery. 


We use an app called 'Famly' which provides an interactive newsfeed filled with updates of activities, mealtimes and pictures of your child/ren throughout the day.

Our Nursery Fees

Effective from 1st March 2024

Nursery fees are worked out by the exact sessions carried out per month.  All nursery fees are to be paid monthly in advance, by the last working day of each month. Fees are still charged when a child is absent due to illness or holidays.

We offer sibling discount of 10%. 


These fees are inclusive of nappies, wipes, ointments, food and cows milk. Our fees are reviewed annually every March. 

Childcare Offer for Wales

We provide up to 30 hours a week of funded childcare for working parents of 3 and 4 years old. Please ask for more information regarding using government funding for nursery fees. 


Flying Start Funding

We are registered to provide care under the Flying Start scheme, to all children in eligible areas ollowing the term after their second birthday. Please ask for more information regarding funding towards nursery fees.


Tax Free Childcare / Vouchers

We accept payments through the Tax Free Childcare system along with several voucher schemes. 


Parental Handbook & Contract

Please see attached a copy of our parental handbook and contract. Terms and conditions are reviewed annually, any changes will be communicated to parents/carers.

Food and Drinks at Selca Day Nursery - Pencoed

Healthy eating has many benefits for young children. it is important for children to receive nutritional meals in order to improve their minds and development, helping to prevent a number of health conditions, as well as providing children with sufficient energy for their eventful day!


We prepare nutritious meals every day to ensure your child is receiving a balance diet while at the nursery. Our menu includes a number of healthy items, encouraging children to try new foods, while still making them appealing to even the fussiest of eaters!


Children are encouraged to participate in a number of baking activities. These are done as part of their planning and to encourage their involvement in the mixing and baking of meals.


Our menu is updated a number of times throughout the year in accordance with the different seasons and adjusted for weather changes. Attached is a copy of our summer and winter menus.
